Alice Schroeder

Alice Schroeder is an American author, financial analyst, and former Wall Street executive best known as the authorized biographer of legendary investor Warren Buffett. Educated at the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her bachelor’s and MBA degrees, Schroeder worked as a certified public accountant before transitioning into insurance industry equity research.

As a managing director at Morgan Stanley, Schroeder was the only Wall Street analyst whom Buffett permitted to interview him extensively. Impressed by her analytical rigor and deep financial insight, Buffett offered her unprecedented access to his personal archives, family, and colleagues to write his definitive biography.

The resulting 2008 book, The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life, debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list and was universally praised for its intimate, unvarnished portrayal of one of history’s greatest investors. Schroeder continues to write and lecture on finance, corporate governance, and leadership.
