Brant Secunda

Brant Secunda is an American shaman, traditional healer, and ceremonial leader in the Huichol Indian tradition of Mexico’s Sierra Madre mountains. Born in New York, Secunda traveled to Mexico in the late 1960s, where he met Don José Matsuwa, a revered Huichol shaman who adopted Secunda as his apprentice.

For over twelve years, Secunda underwent intensive traditional shamanic training, learning ancient healing modalities, plant medicine, and ceremonial rituals aimed at restoring balance between human health and the natural environment.

Secunda founded the Dance of the Deer Foundation for Huichol Shamanism to preserve indigenous traditions and support Huichol communities. Co-authoring Fit Soul, Fit Body: 9 Keys to a Healthier, Happier You with Mark Allen, Secunda blends indigenous spiritual wisdom with modern wellness practices to help individuals achieve holistic wellbeing.
