Peter L. Bernstein

Peter L. Bernstein (1919–2009) was an American financial historian, economist, and author. Educated at Harvard University, he served as a corporate economist, consultant, and founder of the scholarly journal The Journal of Portfolio Management.

He achieved international acclaim as the author of landmark financial books including Against the Gods: The Remarkable Story of Risk, Capital Ideas, and Wedding of the Waters.

Bernstein’s brilliant synthesis of economic history and risk management made complex financial concepts accessible to investors worldwide. He is a legendary figure in economic literature.
