My Life in Full – Indra Nooyi
Indra Nooyi grew up in Chennai, India, in a family that valued education and ambition. She went on to become chairman and chief executive of PepsiCo, one of the world’s largest food and beverage companies, and one of the most admired business leaders of her generation.
In My Life in Full: Work, Family, and Our Future, Nooyi tells the story of her remarkable journey. She describes her childhood and early education in India, her decision to move to the United States to study at Yale with very little money, and her rise through companies such as Boston Consulting Group, Motorola and ABB before joining PepsiCo. As CEO, she led the company through a major transformation, which she called Performance with Purpose, aiming to make products healthier, reduce environmental impact and support employees.
Nooyi writes candidly about the challenges of balancing a demanding career with family life, including raising two daughters, caring for relatives and the guilt and trade-offs many working parents experience. Drawing on her own experiences, she argues that workplaces and societies must do more to support families, through paid leave, flexible work and better care for children and the elderly.
Thoughtful, inspiring and practical, My Life in Full offers both a compelling memoir and a call to action. It is a valuable read for professionals, leaders, working parents and anyone interested in business, leadership and the future of work.
