Edgedancer – Brandon Sanderson

Lift is a young thief with a talent for getting into places she should not be and a powerful ability she does not fully understand. She has been living in the palace of the emperor of Azir, enjoying an endless supply of food, but she has started to worry that she is changing and growing up, which she is determined not to do. So she does what she always does: she runs.

Edgedancer, a novella by Brandon Sanderson set in the world of his epic fantasy series The Stormlight Archive, follows Lift as she travels to the city of Yeddaw with her mysterious spren companion, Wyndle. Lift is one of the newly emerging Knights Radiant, warriors with extraordinary powers, and she has become an Edgedancer, an order dedicated to remembering those who are forgotten.

In Yeddaw, Lift discovers that a dangerous figure known as Nale, a ruthless enforcer of the law, is hunting people with powers like hers. She also learns of a woman who runs an orphanage in the city and may be in danger. As a powerful storm approaches and Nale closes in, Lift must decide what kind of person she wants to be and what it truly means to follow the ideals of her order.

With humor, action and heart, the novella offers a lively adventure featuring one of the most beloved characters in the series, and it bridges events between the second and third books of The Stormlight Archive. Earlier editions published it alongside other stories.

Edgedancer is a delightful read for fans of Brandon Sanderson and The Stormlight Archive, best enjoyed after reading Words of Radiance. It contains some fantasy violence.
